Technorati’s Dave Sifry published the latest blogosphere stats based on his logs. The blogsphere is growing like a weed, over 86,000 blogs per day on average, according to Technorati data. However, the mechanisms to aggregate and filter the blogosphere are not doubling in improvements every six months–not even close. It’s the classic technology mismatch, similar to when processor improvement far outpaced improvements in software to take advantage of the additional cycles. Technorati now tracks over 35.3 Million blogs
The blogosphere is doubling in size every 6 months
It is now over 60 times bigger than it was 3 years ago
On average, a new weblog is created every second of every day
19.4 million bloggers (55%) are still posting 3 months after their blogs are created
3.9 million bloggers (11%) update weekly or more
About 9% of blogs are spam
