The idea that switching to Intel represents “consorting with the enemy” has been largely dismissed by most Macintosh fans, but the fact that Apple no longer provides differentiating hardware inside their machines is undeniable. While most welcome the change, and profess that what makes a Macintosh a Macintosh is the operating system, there are a few engineering fans who will miss the PowerPC and its Altivec SIMD hardware. Woz is clearly among them.

Or is he? The Woz is now claiming that the Globe & Mail fabricated this material, saying “I have consistently backed [the Intel] decision.” He contends that the statement attributed to him “must have been stretched into being one about my own thinking.” (...)
