Google Earth for Mac:
Making a Google Earth overlay on a Mac

Even though Mac users cannot install Google Earth yet, it is possible to make overlays. Google Earth hacks, overlays and mashups are becoming very popular, and the Mac community can be part of this fast growing new technology by using CommunityWalk and the simple technique described below.

Conversion Tool

You can do a conversion of a Google Maps location to a Google Earth .kml file. (Because Google Maps is an online applet it works on all platforms). You can find the conversion tool on Philippe Gouillou’s site www.gouillou.com.

This is how you do it: In Google Maps: Double-left-click inside the map/satellite view to center on the location that you hace chosen and generate the correct link In Google Maps: Copy the link behind “Link to this page” (top right of the screen) Paste it into the conversion box on Philippe’s page Give it a name Hit “GO” to get the .kml file which can now be opened in Google Earth.
